MAKING a Wallace & Gromit-style cartoon, and creating a permanent piece of artwork or a roller-skating disco are just some of the activities on offer at Amesbury sports centre during the Easter break.
This year, staff members have put together a very different programme of activities to keep children busy during the school holidays.
Manager Judith Whelan said: "This time, we are not just doing sports sessions but also having an exciting animation arts session, where the kids will be making Wallace & Gromit-style models and then filming a cartoon.
"On another day, the children will be taking part in a visual arts project, called 'How does my garden grow?', using 3D and 2D materials, as well as using personal pictures to create a stunning, permanent work of art, which will be displayed in the centre."
Artist Laurence Rusby will be leading the visual arts project on Saturday, April 17, and Judith said she expected the day to prove very popular.
The session is aimed at eight to 14-year-olds and costs £12.50, and the animation arts session is for children aged eight-plus and costs £20.
Another event with limited spaces is the circus skills session, on Wednesday, April 14, where children will have the chance to try their luck at uni-cycling, plate-spinning and juggling, for just £7.50.
Most of the other activities during the fortnight-long programme are sports-based and include football, squash, trampolining, dancing, basketball and fencing.
Prices range from £1.20 to £10 and Judith said it was best to book early to avoid disappointment. For more information, call the sports centre, on 01980 622173.
