Students from the Royal College of Music are filmmed at Wilton House for Mozart programme.THE music of Mozart is being brought to life with a new Channel Four programme filmed at Wilton House this week.

Students from the Royal College of Music performed pieces of the great composer's work in the Single Cube Room for the hour-long documentary, due to be broadcast in the autumn.

The film is being made by 3BM Television and reveals an interesting interpretation of Mozart's life and work.

It is presented by composer James McConnel, who was born in Landford, and returned to his south Wiltshire roots to make the programme.

"It has been fascinating researching Mozart and we shall be filming in lots of wonderful locations, including Bath, Salzburg and Vienna," he said.

Wilton House, which has featured in many films, including Mrs Brown and The Madness of King George, was chosen for the programme by director Marion Milne.

"The house had the perfect rococo environment we were looking for," she said. "It is a truly beautiful location and the perfect setting for the performances of Mozart's music."

Maggie Ainley, of the Bath Film Office, said: "Filming in these wonderful places is not only good for the British television and film industry. It also benefits the local economy and is a real boost for tourism."
