POLICE are hunting a man after a 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted as she sat in a park.

The girl was said to be deeply shocked by the attack, which happened while she sat alone in Folly Park, Toothill, on March 18.

The girl had left her home just 15 minutes before the assault between 6pm and 6.30pm.

Police want to trace a woman who was walking her dog in the park and a group of children who may have been playing football at Toothill Primary School.

The attacker, who ran off towards Beaulieu Close, was about 5ft 9in, skinny, in his early 30s with and had short dark hair. He was clean-shaven with a mark or cut on his right cheek.

His front teeth were distinctive and he had markings, possibly a tattoo, on his hand.There could be scratch marks on the left of his face.

He wore a dark green jumper with a sport motif on the collar and a pair of black, Army-style boots with rubber studs.
