FITNESS fans put their best foot forward in a walkathon to raise money for four-year-old cerebral palsy sufferer Brandon Humphries.

The walkathon, held at the Trax Gym, in Sheppard Street, on Monday saw gym members and those keen to help in the fundraising take to a treadmill to help Brandon.

It will have taken the Best Foot Forward appeal over its £4,000 target.

Brandon's dad, Tony, 42, said: "Now that the appeal has reached its target, fundraising will remain ongoing.

"We are overwhelmed by the generosity. Everyone has worked so hard and I would like to thank everyone who has helped us reach it."

Pat O'Driscoll, the owner of Trax Gym, said: "We began at 7am and finished at 7pm. We had a great response from those at the club.

"We have not yet totted up a grand total but we are expecting to have raised around £300 to £400."

Using an exercise treadmill, the participants walked a total of 80 kilometres, and burnt off a total of 8,500 calories.

Tony and his wife Tracey, 38, from The Prinnels, in West Swindon, have launched Brandon's Best Foot Forward campaign to raise the money to pay for their son to visit a special school to help him walk.

The money will allow him to spend a month at the world-renowned Peto Institute, in Budapest, which has pioneered a unique therapy known as conductive education.
