Ref. 29736-7Cycling the 1,000 miles from one end of Great Britain to the other is no mean feat, but Paul Scott and Matt Tilling are preparing with gusto.
The friends, both 47, will face the challenge of their lives when they mount their bikes in Cornwall head for Scotland in September.
They hope to reach their destination within two weeks and make £1,000 for charity at the same time.
Their hard earned sponsorship will be split between two charities, Marie Curie Cancer care and Swindon-based youth club The Rowdy Bunch, which enables disabled teenagers realise their full potential.
Paul, a father-of-three, of Bedford Road, Walcot, said: "It's something I've wanted to do for absolutely ages. I was at a barbecue at Matt's house last summer and we started discussing it and said 'right, we'll do it.'
"I think it was after a few drinks but I'm so determined to see it through. We cycle a couple of times during the week and aim to complete a 100-mile ride each weekend.
"I'm following a healthy diet, but I can't do without my Sunday roasts."
Paul's son Michael, 18, and a friend are planning to drive ahead of the duo each day to set up camp ready for night.
