THE Swindon Parent Partner-ship is looking to recruit people to help children with special educational needs.
The volunteers, who will be known as Independent Parent Supporters, must meet certain clear-cut criteria:
Interest in education and special educational needs and a willingness to find out more.
Good listening skills
An ability to give clear explanations
Trustworthiness
Availability to support parents during daytime meetings
Willingness to complete the necessary training
Training will be held during April, and anybody requiring information is asked to contact the partnership on 01793 466515.
Partnership co-ordinator Jill Wells said: "If you have the time and interest we need you.
"Parents have said how much they value and welcome support from Swindon Parent Partnership Service.
"Now we want more parents to have that same benefit, but we need more IPS."
