CAN we take it, after digesting the recent coverage relating to the council's parking provision for its employees that the so- called green strategy in the form of purposeful limitation of car parking spaces designed to encourage the use of public transport and cycling, is only meant to apply to hospital staff and visitors but not members of the council?
There apparently will be little chance of us spotting our eminent councillors standing in the seasonal wind and rain at the local bus stop or of them pedalling gamely to work clad in bulging Lycra-pants and wearing a bed-pan on their heads.
This comically misappropriated policy, a half baked, socialist scheme to appease the green lobby, was quietly shunted by ministers down to the Lilliputian realm of local government which capacitor-like opportunistically discharged its contents to the nearest and handiest object within range, in our case the new PFI funded hospital construction scheme.
The duplicity would be hilarious, except that hospital visitors and staff have other things to worry about other than participating in bird-brained green transport experiments.
