GAZETTE & HERALD: A COURT put a special order on alcoholic Stephen Hayward, 32, on Tuesday to try to curb his drink-fuelled anti-social behaviour.

Chippenham Magistrates gave Hayward, of Ladyfield Road, Chippenham, a two-year Anti-Social Behaviour Order, banning him from going into off-licences or being drunk in a public place. If he breaches the order he could face jail.

Hayward pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly and carrying a blade in a public place, and assaulting a police officer earlier this month.

Prosecuting, Andy Pritchard said police responded to reports of a disturbance at Southmead, in the early hours of December 30, where they discovered Hayward shouting and swearing.

When he turned his back on the officers they saw a large pair of kitchen scissors sticking out of his back pocket. He refused to calm down and was arrested.

Earlier last month Hayward was arrested after police were called to the scene of a disturbance. In police custody he spat at an officer.

Defending, John Elliott said Hayward had a habit of drinking when he felt down.

Magistrates ordered Hayward to be electronically tagged, and imposed a curfew order for five months.
