GAZETTE & HERALD: SHOPPERS in Chippenham were stunned last week when Batman was spotted washing the Gazette office windows.
But the man behind the mask was window cleaner Sam Whitaker, who had just walked from Calne to Chippenham carrying his ladder and bucket.
Mr Whitaker is just one of a team of big-hearted members of Calne Liberal Club, who are fundraising for Dorothy House Hospice.
"I'm a window cleaner. I thought I'd walk to Chippenham, clean a window and walk back again as fast as I could," said Mr Whitaker.
"Cars were beeping their horns but I must have been a strange sight, dressed as Batman, carrying a ladder and a bucket."
The club has raised money with a giant raffle, a bingo session and even performed the Full Monty.
It hopes to have raised £1,000 for the hospice."
