PROUD skipper Matt Hewlett is confident his troops are ready for the 'final push' and that Tuesday's amazing comeback at Vale Park is proof that Town will not choke so close to the finishing line.
Hewlett led by example as Town fought back from the dead to earn a 3-3 draw.
He doubled his goal tally this season after roaring at his players that it was 'all or nothing'.
He said: "We showed tremendous character to get back into the match.
"Even at 3-0 down we refused to accept that it wasn't going to be our night.
"We were determined not to lose and we made sure that it didn't happen.
"We had a mountain to climb but we did it. It leaves us in a decent position with seven games to go.
"It's crunch time and although we've some testing times still to come, we're not afraid of the challenge.
"There are players here who know what it's like to win promotion and they want to experience it again. We are getting closer and we want to finish what we've started."
And Hewlett was delighted to score for the second time in three years at Vale Park.
He said: "It was great to see it go in but it was more about what it meant in terms of the fightback.
"Fortunately we've gone on and Rory Fallon, who was magnificent, has got us a point. As for me, I know I should get a few more."
Hewlett has suffered at the hands of the County Ground boo-boys on occasions, but manager Andy King hopes his qualities are at last being appreciated.
He said: "He has been playing fantastically of late.
"Some people have been critical of Matt Hewlett but he has shown not only what he brings to the team but what a good player he is.
"He has been our best player in recent weeks by far.
"It may be that Matty's role has been more defined this season in that we have a lot of attacking midfielders looking to cause damage in the final third.
"Matty is there pulling the strings in the middle, fulfilling a role within the team shape that suits him.
"The boy has a tremendous appetite for the game and is the sort of lad who is anxious not to let anyone down."
Bristol City have sold their entire 3,227 ticket allocation for the Easter Saturday clash with Town.
