PARISH councillors in Pewsey have been given an assurance that all businesses in Wilcot Road will be consulted before any changes to the traffic system in the street are introduced.
There has been growing concern over the conflict between vehicles on the busy road and pedestrians who have no footpath. Talks have been taking place between the parish council and the highway authority for years.
Currently suggestions for a one-way system, or part one-way between Rawlins Road and Marlborough Road, are under consideration.
Coun Alex Carder told the parish council: "The people living in Wilcot Road need to see something positive happening to improve pedestrian safety."
Former council chairman Coun Colin Lampard, who lives in the street, said the parish council has always said it did not support the idea of a one-way system but the county council was hoping to talk to members to allay fears.
