ELLIS Wilmot made his return from injury at Weymouth on Saturday and was glad to have contributed to the impressive win.

The 23-year-old, who was signed from Mangotsfield in the summer, had been struggling with a knee injury but says he is now fighting fit again.

"I've had medial knee ligament trouble in both my knees this season," Wilmot said.

"I had a cortisone injection in the left one earlier in the season and had another injection in the right this time which helped speed things along. I feel good and the knee is good touch wood. Now I'm just getting back in the swing of things."

Wilmot was utilised at right-wingback on Saturday but was just glad to be back in the starting line-up.

"It was a great result for us. We did really well and were delighted to get the three points," he said. "Our away form has been good but Weymouth have been right up there. If we hadn't won would have put more pressure on us for the Bath game but now we are full of confidence."

Wilmot praised the back three of Tom Gould, Colin Towler and Simon Charity.

"We looked quite solid with five across midfield but the back three were brilliant," he added. "They've done really well in the last few weeks and looked strong again.

"Weymouth had a lot of corners and worked the ball wide. Steve Claridge did well holding the ball up but he never really got in behind us.

"It was a good feeling of euphoria in the dressing room afterwards. Personally I was delighted although I cramped up at end and suffered from a lack of match fitness."

Wilmot is another of Chippenham's former Bath City contingent and he is hoping he can hold on to his place in the side for Saturday's derby clash.

"I'd be gutted if I'm not selected because it's a local derby with a lot at stake because of the relegation and promotion scenario," he added.

"For me it's about the whole derby situation rather than facing my old club. But there are a few lads I know in the Bath team and it would be nice to put one over on them."
