SHREWTON United signed off their home campaign with an impressive 2-1 defeat of promotion chasing Clyst Rovers.
Clyst, desperate to stay in touch with the leaders and the Shrews, hoping to sign off in style for their home fans, both contributed to an entertaining game.
United opened the scoring through Jess Walters who was rewarded for his hard work and persistence.
Despite the goal, it remained an open contest and Clyst levelled before the break.
The only goal of the second half was enough to secure all three points. It came from the boot of Anton Brownless after he was set away through the middle.
Both sides hit the post but neither could find the net again as Shrewton held on to register their ninth home league victory of their debut Western League campaign.
United play the return fixture against Clyst on Sunday (3pm) before heading to Calne Town on Tuesday (7.45pm).
