BEMERTON Heath Harlequins picked up their third win in a week when they visited Bournemouth on Saturday.
They worked hard on an uneven pitch against a stubborn Poppies side who are struggling at the wrong end of the table.
Darren Crook blazed over the bar after seven minutes but clear scoring opportunities were few and far between.
It took 23 minutes for the 'Quins to find the net and it came via Crook, as Mark Daubney's left wing cross was headed back by Jamie Boswell for the former Salisbury City player to volley home from ten yards.
Bournemouth did not manage a shot on target during the first half although Alex Allen had a good chance, but when clear of his marker he shot over the bar.
Nick Collier suffered a knock just before the interval and had to be replaced by Ian Chalk for the second period.
Poppies started to take the game to Bemerton, but their forwards were found wanting in front of goal and Scott Kemmis was not unduly troubled.
Stuart Findlay was finding plenty of space for the Harlequins but his scoring touch had deserted him.
He shot fractionally wide after one good run and later in the game he looked odds-on to score but again dragged the ball past the post.
The three points were made safe on 80 minutes when Chalk supplied the cross for Crook to fire in.
It proved a comfortable victory for Heath who are now finding a much better rhythm in their play and beginning to pass the ball around.
The club's reserves kept up their hopes for the Combination championship with another fine victory. They struck four past Alton Town reserves thanks to goals by Danny Aplin (2), Joe Sanger and Matt Alford before conceding a late consolation.
'Quins are now two points behind Gosport Borough reserves but have a game in hand.
Jeff Softley's side can go top of the table tonight (Thursday) when they entertain Eastleigh's second string at Western Way. Kick off is 7.45pm.
Heath's youth team have booked themselves a trip to Swin-don Town's County Ground later this month after an emphatic 8-0 win against Shaw B in the semi-final of the Wiltshire Youth Cup.
The result was all the more impressive as they were reduced to ten men after only eight minutes when Josh Brigham was dismissed for violent conduct.
Billy Barnes scored a hat-trick, Rob Ivermee, Graham Munkins netted twice while Simon Colburn also got his name on the scoresheet against the North Wilts League outfit.
In the final, on April 28, Heath will take on Corsham Town, who beat Salisbury City in their semi-final.
