THE policing of the Salisbury Plain training area will be carried out from a new police station at Tidworth garrison, the Ministry of Defence Police has announced.
Following the country-wide reorganisation of the Ministry of Defence policing teams, operations in the Salisbury Plain area will now be run from Tidworth.
The new unit will be known as Ministry of Defence Police Salisbury Plain and will consist of a sergeant and ten constables. These officers are directly responsible for Tidworth Garrison, Larkhill Camp, Bulford Camp and Warminster Garrison, as well as Salisbury Plain itself.
The officers, previously stationed at other police premises in the area, will work closely, as before, with Wiltshire Constabulary and the Royal Military Police.
Sergeant Mark Venning, senior police officer in charge, said: "We look forward to continuing to serve the defence community in south Wiltshire and are confident that the reorganisation will ultimately focus our resources where they are most needed."
