WILTSHIRE Heritage Museum has secured its grant funding by having 20,000 people visit the museum.
In order to secure the grant funding it receives from Wiltshire County Council and Kennet District Council the museum had to have 20,000 visitors by yesterday.
Museum officials were concerned that they might not meet the target and recruited the help of the Gazette & Herald to highlight its plight and following our articles people from all over the area visited the museum, in Long Street.
The 20,000th visitor was Peter Johnson, who visited the museum in his lunch hour last Friday, along with work colleague Peter Shah.
To mark the achievement the museum gave Mr Johnson a complimentary bottle of champagne.
