CHILDREN from St Michael's School in Aldbourne took part in a fairytale wedding in their village church on Monday.
All the children from the school took part in the wedding with two Year 2 pupils, Rebecca and Thomas, as the bride and groom, Cinderella and Prince Charming.
They were attended by bridesmaids Carys and Lauren with Thomas as best man and Henry giving the bride away.
The ceremony was performed by the Vicar of Aldbourne, the Rev Sandy Railton.
Headteacher Maggie Edwards said the wedding was the coming together of two curriculum subjects the children have been taking part in this term, traditional fairytales like Hansel and Gretel and Cinderella, and special and religious occasions that people celebrate.
The school put the two together and came up with the idea of the fairy tale wedding in the village church which is next to the school.
The children helped plan the big occasion and chose who the happy couple were to be.
They even planned and prepared a buffet reception afterwards in the school, with a two-tier cake made by school dinner lady Sue Tucker.
The children made invitations that were sent out to parents, many of whom arrived in their best suits and posh frocks for the occasion.
In true wedding tradition the happy couple were feted with confetti as they left the church after taking their vows.
Mrs Edwards said the children enjoyed planning for the village's first school wedding. She said: "This sort of event also brings the church into the children's lives which is good."
Then after the wedding, the bride and groom went their own ways.
