WILTSHIRE County Council will examine if the speed limit at Spin Hill, Market Lavington, should be reduced but there are no guarantees any traffic calming measures will be introduced.
At a meeting yesterday the county council's regulatory committee decided to assess all the speed limits in the village, including Spin Hill, when highway officers implement a 30 mph speed limit outside St Barnabas Primary School sometime this year.
Villagers relaunched a campaign to get the 60mph speed limit reduced and called for other traffic calming measures following the death of 34-year-old Market Lavington resident Sharon Oliver in April 2003.
Mrs Oliver's father, Michael Lynch, who lives in London, attended yesterday's meeting. He had sent a letter to the county council imploring it to introduce traffic calming measures.
He said if it did not act his daughter's death would be in vain.
Sharon Charity, who organised a 220 signature petition, said: "Reducing the speed limit would help prevent another tragedy like the one that took Sharon Oliver from her family."
