WORK is due to start next week on laying a new water main in Devizes.
A new 250mm water main is being laid from The Crammer across Nursteed Road, The Green and then along the A360 to the Southgate roundabout.
Work is due to begin on Monday from the Southgate roundabout to the fire station. Work will then continue across the access roads to the Devizes School campus.
From April 19, the work will concentrate on laying the main across The Green to The Crammer.
Wessex Water hopes to complete the work at the end of May. Temporary traffic lights will be used for part of the time.
Steve Dodwell, the project manager, said: "We have put fencing posts in to ensure the health and safety of our employees and contractors and the public. We will have large machinery operating and we need to ensure that the public is separated from the work."
A new water main will also be installed in London Road. The work is due to start on May 4 for 17 weeks.
The total cost of both projects is £840,000.
