STUDENTS at St John's School, Marlborough, have been taking part in a national competition called Paperclip Physics.
Competing teams had five minutes to explain a physics concept in a creative and entertaining way using ordinary household objects only.
The school hosted the regional heat of the competition organised by the Institute of Physics.
The audience was entertained with presentations involving fish tanks, a remote controlled hovercraft, a bed of nails and beach balls.
Peter Spence, from St John's, explained pressure, force and area with the help of a toy elephant and egg box.
Lucy Sillars, Lewis Rendle, Tom Maulik and Tom Kelley, also from St John's, explained momentum and crumple zones.
The team won a place in the next round in Bath where members unfortunately lost to a team from Torquay.
