THE Rector of Marlborough, the Rev Andrew Studdert-Kennedy, wants everyone in the town to have their eyes turned to the skies on Easter Sunday.

He wants the town to mark the day of the resurrection of Jesus Christ by flying kites on Marlborough College playing fields.

He said: "The church is inviting people to fly kites on the college playing fields on Easter Sunday afternoon at 4pm.

"The thinking behind it is that in certain countries, most notably the Caribbean, kites are a symbol of the Resurrection.

"I think it would be great fun if we can get people together flying their kites on Easter Sunday."

Mr Studdert-Kennedy and his wife Anne will be taking their four children to the playing fields with their kites.

He said people without kites would also be welcome to go along and join in the fun.

The entrance to the college playing fields can be found off Hyde Lane. Parking will be limited so people are asked to walk to the event if possible.
