UNDER-STRENGTH Chippenham went behind early on in this friendly and never managed to recover.
Cleve had the first points on the board, scoring an unconverted try, in just three minutes.
Their second try came ten minutes later from a well executed inside pass from their scum-half at a scrummage which allowed their number eight in to score.
Chippenham full-back David Spiers made an excellent break from the half-way line and carved his way through the Cleve defence. It would have been the try of the season but he dropped the ball under the posts.
Another break from Spiers again resulted in the Cleve winger knocking the ball on in defence but this time the penalty was awarded to Chippenham. The penalty prevented them from scoring a near certain try.
Eight minutes into the second half, Cleve broke through the Chippenham defence on the blindside of the scrummage. The try further increased their lead to 15 points.
After 35 minutes, Chippenham eventually managed to go over the Cleve tryline with a well-executed try scored by their centre and captain Rupert Crockett.
Chippenham scored their second try of the game when hooker James Foley drew the Cleve winger and fed Darren McMillan who ran in to score under the posts.
