ELLIS Wilmot insists he has nothing to prove in tomorrow's crunch local derby against former club Bath City.
The Chippenham Town defender failed to make an impression in his six-month spell at Twerton Park last season but will not be using that as an extra motivation to impress tomorrow.
He said: "I do not feel as though I have to prove something to anyone, especially not Bath City.
"Things didn't work out for me when I went there last season. I got injured and then never really got a chance but I won't be thinking about that. I need no motivation to perform tomorrow other than a victory that will move us three points nearer to securing a place in the play-offs."
Wilmot had been struggling with a knee injury for the last few weeks but returned to the starting up in Chippenham's 1-0 win at Weymouth.
He lined up at right wing back in place of Michael Green who left the club to join Forest Green Rovers on deadline day and is now hopeful of retaining his place for tomorrow's local derby.
He said: "I have played in that position before and think I did reasonably well on Saturday. Hopefully I have done enough to stay in the team but with the competition we have got here you can never be sure.
"It was a fantastic win on Saturday, not just because it was against Weymouth, but because it was another three points.
"At this stage of the season it doesn't matter who you are playing against. The most important thing is to just pick up as many points as possible.
"I don't think anyone should need any motivation for any of the matches ahead. They are all big ones if we are to reach the Conference Two next season."
Chippenham are in 16th position in the Dr Martens Premier League just three points off a top 13 spot and an automatic place in the Conference Two but Wilmot believes the focus should be on the play-offs.
He said: "We do need to take each game as it comes but to be honest I think we would be delighted just to secure a place in the play-offs.
"Obviously if we do get in a better position then we will be very happy but for the moment our focus has to be on the 14th-18th positions.
"We have been playing really well in the last few weeks and even when we have lost we have always been in the game. We will be full of confidence and I think everyone is just looking forward to the game."
