SPEEDING motorists will soon be able to watch a re-run of their driving offence on a new road safety website.
The county's Safety Camera Partnership has commissioned a software company to develop a system where offenders can witness evidence of their crime.
The website is due to be online by the end of the year and will also provide drivers in Wiltshire with accident statistics on particular stretches of road.
David Frampton, manager for the safety camera unit, said: "The new Freedom of Information Act means we will need to provide the public with much more information in relation to speeding offences.
"It will not only make it much easier for us to meet our obligations under the Act, but also address some of the high profile concerns the public has about speed enforcement."
The new system for Wiltshire is the first in the country to allow drivers to find out why they had been punished.
The Wiltshire and Swindon Safety Camera Partnership commissioned the system from a software company called Compuware Ltd.
The partnership says once motorists can see the statistics and understand how many crashes occur on each road, they might be more willing to slow down to create a safer environment.
