CALNE'S second team made a triumphant return to competitive rugby on Saturday by beating Sutton Benger in their first game in three years.
The team comprising mainly of new recruits were supplemented by a hand full of veterans as they defeated their experienced opponents.
Andy Horman, vice captain for the day, had a good debut at hooker while Jay Wilson caused Benger problems in the centre with Ben Grey.
Dave Lucas had a stormer on the open side and Danny Hammond made his return to Calne colours after retiring from first XV rugby over a year ago.
Andy Bell, son of club stalwart Rob, had a good game at scrum half while his father got on the scoresheet with a late try to cap a great day for the family.
Calne's try scorers were Mike Charlwood, 2, Vince Treen, 2, and Rob Bell. Jay Wilson added four conversions.
The club would still like to hear from any veterans in the area who would like to help develop these youngsters and anyone else interested in rugby.
