BIDDESTONE Social are celebrating after winning promotion to the Premier Division of the Vanitec Computers-sponsored Chippenham Sunday League.
A point from their 2-2 draw with Colerne was enough to clinch a place in the top flight next season, but whether they go up as champions or runners-up has still to be decided.
Colerne outplayed Biddestone for long periods and only a last minute goal from Paul Poiner saved them from defeat.
Poiner put Biddestone in front when he bundled home a Rob Pocock cross in the 22nd minute. Richard Smart fired Colerne level on 30 minutes and nine minutes into the second period Smart gave Colerne the lead that they held until the 90th minute when Poiner struck to earn the leaders a 2-2 draw.
Second placed Maud Heath Sports dropped a vital point in their bid for promotion, but Trowbridge Harriers received a huge blow to their hopes when they lost 4-2 at home to relegation threatened Chippenham Police.
Semington Rovers gifted Maud Heath the lead when Ollie Fenwick pounced on a defensive error. Rovers' equaliser came from an own goal from Chris Edes which saw the final score finish at 1-1.
Wesley Bray and Stuart Donohoe were outstanding for Rovers who came close to winning the game when Graham Pearce rattled the post.
Trowbridge Harriers' unexpected loss at the hands of Chippenham Police lifted the boys in blue out of the bottom two, but with just one game left to play it is looking likely that the Police and Atworth United will face the drop as nearest rivals West End Wanderers are discovering the form that will see them move away from the danger zone.
Harriers played much of their game with the Police with only 10 men after Matty Hobbs was sent off, this after he had scored his side's opening goal. Ali Stokes was the Trowbridge side's other hit man. Steve Davis, Jason Roberts and Steve Lever, whose two goals were his first of the season, saw the Police to a welcome win.
After a goal-less first half Wingfield and Atworth United shared eight goals and the points as their clash finish in a 4-4 stalemate.
WEST End Wanderers outplayed fellow First Division side Chippenham Sports and Social Club in every department to set up a cup final showdown with Second Division leaders Corsham Centre in the Rainbow Launderette-sponsored WG Parr Trophy.
Wanderers, who could have doubled their 5-0 victory, owed their win to the talents and professionalism of man-of-the-match Frank Coleman, who was the key man in the one sided win.
Wanderers took the lead after five minutes when Coleman's cross was headed home by Dave Macey despite the protests of the Sports keeper Graham Jones who insisted the ball had not crossed the line.
From the restart Chippenham Sports pushed forward and were unlucky not to get back on level terms when James Pope's shot was cleared off the line by Lee Randell.
Wanderers doubled their advantage in the 10th minute. Coleman was again at the heart of the move that led to Macey heading home number two in a carbon copy of the first, but on this occasion there was no doubt that the ball had gone over the line.
Minutes later Coleman had a chance to make it 3-0 but he dwelt too long on the ball and his effort was well saved by keeper Jones.
It wasn't long before Coleman got his name on the score sheet. He mesmerised the Sports keeper and even with Ben Head chopping at his legs stayed on his feet to slot home Wanderers' third.
In a one-sided first period Macey blasted over from close range when he should have completed his hat-trick and Coleman was only denied a second by a fine save from Jones.
The Sports looked a different side at the start of the second half and could have reduced the gap had it not been for Martin Salter in the Wanderers goal who produced two great saves to deny James Pope and Darren Whiston.
On the hour Coleman rounded keeper Jones with ease to make it 4-0 and kill off any hopes the Sports had of staging a fight back.
Jones produced a superb double stop to deny Nathan Mantle and then Coleman in the 77th minute, but there was little the keeper could do in the final minute when Mantle picked out Coleman with a telling pass, Coleman's pace took him clear of the Sports sluggish defence and he completed a well deserved hat-trick.
There was still time for Wanderers to put the ball in the net once more but Colin Garbutt's effort was ruled out for offside.
Corsham Town FC host this Sunday's final, kick-off 2pm.
Despite being in the lower division, Pete Ralph's young Corsham Centre side will start favourites.
BRADFORD News condemned near neighbours Winsley to relegation from the top flight of the Vanitec Computers-sponsored Chippenham League.
After avoiding the drop from the Premier Division last term due to teams pulling out, Winsley needed to beat the newsmen to have any hope of survival but their luck finally ran out as they were defeated 5-0.
Dog and Fox Ashley remain in the hunt for second spot behind Sherston Town.
Their 5-1 victory over Hullavington sets them up nicely for this Sunday's showdown against second in the table Westbury Rangers A.
Hullavington, who played the whole game with just 10 players, fell behind to a Steve Roddy goal. Craig Samuels pulled Hullavington level but they were unable to hold out as Steve Wickins, who was making his first start since November, restored the Dog's lead on 55 minutes. Wickins made it 3-1, 20 minutes later. Two minutes after Roddy flicked home his 35th goal of the campaign and Mark Gerrish rounded things off when his cross from 30 yards eluded everyone and ended up in the net.
West Lavington have proved that they can live with the big guns. Their first season in the Premier Division has seen them surpass their greatest expectations and should they win their final match at home to Terry's they will take fourth spot at worst.
Lavington will go into that game on the back of a stunning 6-1 win over Box Rovers. Tim Jefferies scored for Rovers.
WITH the top two sides without a league match, Holt and North Bradley Saints were unable to close the gap on their rivals as their games were postponed.
Roadrunners' days in the league could be numbered as they were unable to raise a team for their trip to Sutton Benger.
This is the second time in three weeks that Roadrunners have failed to turn up for a game causing concern that they may not complete their fixtures.
Biddestone Arms were undone by a gutsy Spencer Sports side who were missing a number of their key players. Despite the handicap the Sports still came away from Biddestone with a 3-1 win. The Sports went in front when Ben Grinham headed home a Tim Knight corner before a Dean Fry special from 30 yards bought the sides level.
Tom Evans edged the Sports in front and the game was made safe in bizarre circumstances when John Beattie's free kick hit the head of Dale Pearce and fell kindly to Ralph Plummer who made no mistake from 12 yards.
IT'S as you were at the top of as leaders Parsons Nose and second placed Four Seasons saw their games postponed.
Dave Austin's Seasons were unable to raise a side for their trip to Westbury Rangers B while Parsons Nose pitch at Audrey Avenue was left unplayable after the council had carried out work on it.
Already relegated Cooper-Avon recorded only their third win of the campaign with a resounding 5-1 defeat of Trowbridge Town Supporters' Club.
Hare and Hounds and Bradstone Rovers fought out a 3-3 draw. The Hounds hit back after trailing 2-0 to goals from Alan Eades and Andy Starolosky to lead 3-2 which came about after a double substitution from manager Gary Wootton. Wootton introduced himself and Nick Morris to the game and was instantly rewarded when the former set up his brother Tim Wootton who reduced the gap.
Morris then tied the scores at 2-2 with his first goal in his first game for over a year on his return from injury. Tim Wootton finished well to give the Hounds the lead, after again being set up by brother Gary. Just as the Hounds were celebrating victory Eades popped up to gate crash the party to hit Bradstone's equaliser.
Old Lane United have hit a purple patch of late. Their 5-3 victory over Sir Audley's Arms saw them record a third straight win which moved them up into sixth place in the table.
Ben Husband was instrumental in their win with a glorious treble. His first set United on their way and when Jamie Collier made it 2-0 United looked well placed, but the Arms came back immediately with goal machine Steve Mallard levelling the scores with a double which included one from the penalty spot.
Husband regained the lead for United but once again the Arms hit back as Nick Gapper headed them level. Husband's hat-trick goal put United back in front and Kelvin Page finally buried any hopes the Arms had of another revival with goal number five.
CHAMPIONS FC Bradford extended their winning run to 22 matches by defeating second in the table Virgin Mobile 3-1.
Third placed Kings Arms saw off the challenge of Classic FC. Shaun Murray scored both goals in a 2-0 win, which now gives them the edge over Virgin to finish as runners up.
It was a case of de-ja-vu for KSM when they met Rowde. Just like last weekend KSM took the lead but ended up losing 2-1. Kevin Clifton's opener for KSM was cancelled out by Phillip Crew who scored in the 65th and 89th minutes after coming on as a substitute.
White Horse FC left it late before defeating Old Road Tavern. The Tavern out fought the Horse in the first 45 minutes but only led 1-0 through a Martin Woolford goal.
The Horse came storming back in the second half but only drew level in the 84th minute through Mark Pugh. Two minutes later Pugh made it 2-1 and he completed his hat-trick in the 90th minute to earn the Horse a 3-1 victory.
