BIDDESTONE leapfrogged Purton Reserves into third place on Saturday with a 3-0 home win over their Swindon opponents.

They have recorded at least one victory over every side in the top six this season and manager Gary Skidmore believes his side should have had a third place finish sewn up already.

He said: "We have proved that we can beat anyone in this league and we have performed very well against all the main teams.

"Anything lower than a third place finish would be very disappointing because we have hardly been out of the top four all season.

"In a way it is quite frustrating because we have dropped points in matches that we you would not expect us to."

After going in at the break with the score at 0-0, Biddestone raised their game in the second half to run out easy winners.

A Jamie Lyons' penalty and goals from Dan Charman and Dean Birkman sealed the points.

"We need to rack up as many points as possible from our last eight games," said Skidmore. "We have got Marlborough at home tomorrow and we need to put them away. It is as simple as that.

"The crunch games will be against Cricklade and Westbury United Reserves but we need to make sure we don't get caught like we have been earlier this season.

"This has been a fantastic season. You have two teams battling it out for the championship and three maybe four teams still in contention for third. I think the reason for this is that clubs seem to be more willing to play youngsters and this is helping improve the standard.

"When I played all the sides used to be a lot more experienced but it is great to see youngsters getting a chance and making the most of it."
