MARK Hodkinson was furious with his Bradford Town side after they slipped to only their second league defeat since October 11 at Devizes Town Reserves on Tuesday night.

Bradford's impressive form, which has seen them go unbeaten this year, has moved them into contention for a third place finish but Tuesday's 1-0 reverse was a big blow to their hopes.

Since Hodkinson became the boss in October he has been delighted with the response of his players but he admitted he felt they let him down on Tuesday.

He said: "We dominated the match but never really looked like scoring. Having said that neither did they.

"A few of our players really let us down though. There was just effort from some of them. Some players worked and battled like they always do but it was our big players who were just not at the races."

Hodkinson refuses to use the evening kick off as an excuse for the defeat and is calling for his players to react in the right way.

"We got the kick-off moved to 7.30 so everyone had time to get ready after work," he said.

"The players were not up for it, it's as simple as that. We have been on a brilliant run but is just the way it came to an end that was disappointing. It is important the players forget about the defeat and look ahead. We have lost our game in hand to Biddestone and we have our battle ahead for third place now."

Bradford travel to Corsham Town Reserves tomorrow and entertain Trowbridge Town on Tuesday, kick off 6.15pm.
