NEW College students have proved they are far from green when it comes to consumer issues.

A team from the college came fourth in the recent Young Consumer of the Year competition.

Four students answered questions on consumer rights, safety, finance and the environment in the regional finals.

Although they missed out on the top prize, the youngsters Laura Gonzales, 17, Emma Smith, 17, Sarah Papworth, 16, and Amy Brown, 16 went home with prizes including WH Smith vouchers and a disposable camera.

Swindon Council's consumer advice section is now seeking schools and colleges to take part in next year's contest.
