Ref. 29782-10Sisters Georgina and Brittany Riggs are following in the artistic footsteps of their grandmother Maureen Cockram.
Budding pianists Georgina, 11, and Brittany nine, from Greenbridge, also enjoy ballet and tap dancing, a gift they inherit from Maureen who ran dance schools in Swindon for almost 40 years.
After ostensibly retiring to Somerset for 10 years, Maureen has returned to the town and is taking dance classes in Gorse Hill.
Georgina and Brittany scooped cups in the 95th annual Swindon Music Festival and, together, won a duet class.
Georgina attends Hreod Parkway school and Brittany is at Haydon Wick Primary School.
Brittany won the Florence Hawkins Cup with her version of Allegretto in F by Witthaur in the piano solo up to Grade 2 class. She also came second in the piano solo nine and under. Georgina won the piano solo Grade 3 and 4 with Lullaby by Grechaninov scooping the Betty Walters Cup.
They both won the piano duet 11 and under with a duet called Polonaise by Diabelli, Norwegian Dance 11 by Grieg.
The festival runs until tomorrow at the Arts Centre in Devizes Road, Old Town. Latest results: Page 35.
