PLANS to create a football pitch and open space on Corsham's Pockeredge Farm housing development face opposition from Corsham Town Council.

Persimmon Homes has applied to North Wiltshire District Council for permission to create the pitch and car parking area, plus changing rooms and a play area to the north of Spine Road.

The scheme would be landscaped with earthworks around the pitch to help contain noise. A series of footpaths around the site would connect to the new homes.

Town councillors objected because they feared the design, position and layout did not meet the requirements of the section 106 legal agreement drawn up with the developer.

The plans will be considered by the district council's development control committee on Wednesday.
