MARLBOROUGH public relations and marketing consultants department 83 have moved to new premises in the town.

The flourishing company headed by Lucy Handley has moved from the High Street into new premises at the side of the River Kennet in London Road.

Department 83 provides unique marketing communication solutions from strategic planning to implementation.

Founder and director Mrs Handley formerly held a number of senior marketing positions with BT.

She was responsible for launching new products and heading up BT's Europe marketing communications department.

Her next challenge was to establish her own company to share her wide knowledge and experience with other companies. And she set up department 83 in August 2001.

Mrs Handley said: "The aim of department 83 is to provide the best marketing communication solutions possible.

"Business today demands greater flexibility and more pressure to deliver with fewer people and within reduced timescales.

"Rightly our marketing clients are demanding marketing solutions that address these issues."

Over the last two years department 83 has established a diverse range of clients including BT, Lucent Technologies, and locally Bach Homes and the Marlborough International Jazz Festival.

Mrs Handley said: "Our marketing services are individually designed to match each client request."

An exciting new project for department 83 has been working with BT to implement a nationwide regional-based programme to generate awareness of the benefits of broadband within local communities.

The South West has been the first to benefit from this initiative.

Mrs Handley is married with one small son and when time permits she likes to relax playing the piano, painting, enjoying fine wines and travel.
