DEVIZES threw away the chance of three points when they allowed ten-man Welton to overturn their lead with two late goals.
With new manager Mark Godley in the crowd Devizes put in a solid first half performance against their higher placed opponents.
Nick Mooney's deft volley early in the second half put Devizes in front but after that they never took the game on. Even with a man short Welton were still a danger and they punished Devizes for sitting back by taking the points.
Caretaker boss Sean Moffatt said: "At Odd Down we worked really hard but on Saturday they didn't want to know.
"We fired them up before the game and to be fair we played well for the first quarter of an hour of the first half and the first quarter of an hour of the second half. But we were punished at the back by two stupid goals. Where they came from I don't know.
"We had eight or nine players off their game and I've no explanation for their attitude."
It was Devizes who had the extra pep to their game from kick-off and Gary Campbell just failed to get on the end of Nathan Sheridan's early corner.
In the third minute Marcus Wallen played a superb reverse crossfield ball into the Welton Rovers area and Mooney was unlucky to see his shot on the stretch hit the post.
Welton defender Lee Phillips then did superbly to clear Justin Porter's knock down with Wallen poised to pounce.
Welton started to come into the game and they showed some quality passing in midfield. Dave Butler's inch perfect cross was not headed clear by Andy Coombes but James Billings wasted the chance by blasting his volley over the bar.
Aaron Blakemore was causing problems for Devizes on the right and from one of his crosses Billings was denied by goalkeeper Jez Hare.
At the other end Porter produced a superb trick to waltz past his marker on the by-line and his wicked cross was deflected inches over the bar by Welton defender Will Jefferies.
Simon Drewitt had a header saved by Dave Dyson before Billings went clean through at the other end by shot wide.
Blakemore looked odds on to open the scoring when he expertly took down a long pass from Butler but he completely miss-kicked at the vital moment.
The afternoon quickly got worse for Blakemore though when he was red-carded on 30 minutes.
He got in a tangle with Jamie Gale and kicked out at the Devizes defender off the ball. The incident was behind the referee's back but one of his assistants flagged and Welton were reduced to ten men.
The second half started much the same as the first with Devizes making the early plays.
Wallen turned well only to sky his shot over the crossbar but the home team did take the lead minutes later.
Coombes chipped a deep ball to the far post where Mooney was placed to lob an excellent volley over the helpless Dyson.
With a goal lead and an extra player on the pitch Devizes should have gone on to make the game safe.
But they sat back and Welton took advantage by notching two goals inside six minutes.
Wes Wilson carved out the equaliser in the 73rd minute when he broke down the left and cut the ball back for Billings to smash home.
The in their next attack a ball over the Devizes defence by Wilson put substitute Chris Huish clean through and he lobbed a stranded Hare.
Devizes' only response was a 20-yard curler by Porter that flew wide. Welton could have made it three but Huish missed the target.
