NEW College's hopes of winning the Plaister Autos Wiltshire League Junior Division Two title were dashed as Lower Stratton caused the upset of the day.

Stratton's 3-1 win means they can now only finish second at best.

College must win their final game and hope that Swindon Asians slip up with their remaining two fixtures.

Asians now fight leaders Trax, who are three points clear at the top, for the title.

Premier Division title chasers AFC Stratton and Trowbridge Town both won, with wins over Westbury United Reserves and Chiseldon Castrol respectively.

Stratton beat Westbury 2-0 in what looked on paper as a tricky fixture.

Dwain Quinn got Stratton off to a flying start, scoring a neat header on eight minutes.

And Stratton could well have had three more before the break but chances went begging.

Rick Casey eventually made sure of the points scoring midway through the second-half.

Stratton boss Stef Kucynski said: "We played some good stuff in the first half and should have been three goals up at the break.

"But if you don't score more than one and miss chances sometimes you get punished.

"However, we battled well and kept a clean sheet and kept the pressure on our rivals.

Chiseldon Castrol gave Trowbridge Town plenty to think about in a goalless 45 minutes.

But five minutes into Trowbridge broke the deadlock before marching to a 4-0 win.

Walid Bakali settled his sides nerves by rounding the keeper to score the first and Dave Percival added a second and third. Adam Shackell completed the scoring in the closing stages.

Trowbridge still have nine matches to complete before the end of the season.

Dave Levitt scored the winner with just 10 minutes remaining as Aldbourne won a competitive clash against Corsham Town.

Sam Collier's opening strike for Purton was cancelled out by Stee Rogers and Danny Weston as Shrewton bounced back to win 2-1.

Lee Blanchard stole the points for Marlborough Town as they beat Malmesbury 1-0.

An Ian Ross double and one from Ben Carter earned Cricklade Town a 3-1 win over Devizes Town Reserves.

Bradford Town reached the final of the Corsham Print Senior Cup when they defeated Biddestone 2-1 in a hard-fought semi-final tie.

Peter Martin put Bradford ahead after 20 mins and Charlie Powell added a second 10 minutes later.

Biddestone fought back after the break and eventually scored when they were awarded an indirect free-kick just eight yards out. Andy Wicks got the vital touch.

Bradford manager Mark Hodkinson felt both teams were better than they showed on the day but was just relieved to have progressed to the final.

He said: "It was not the best performance on our behalf. If I am honest I don't think either team played to their full potential.

"But the most important thing was the result and we got that. Biddestone are a much better team than they showed Saturday and we know that.

"In the first half we played quite well and deserved to be 2-0 up, they didn't show anything. I think our pace told as we put them on the back foot.

"In the second half they were a far better team and really came at us. We expected that and defended well."

"It is a good break from the league," said Hodkinson. "The good thing is it should be our last game of the season so we don't need to worry about any other league games after that.

In Junior Division One, Trowbridge Town Reserves returned to the top of the table following a 1-0 away win over Biddestone Reserves. Booker Woodford scored the goal.

Ferndale Rodbourne moved into fourth after beating Calne Town Reserves 1-0. Stuart Marriott scored to give Rodbourne a fourth win in seven days.

Wootton Bassett United returned to winning ways beating Down Ampney 5-0 and Wroughton Reserves registered a 5-1 win over Marlborough Town Reserves.

Westside and Wanborough shared the points in a 2-2 draw.
