A youngster battling cancer has become the face of a national campaign encouraging people to eat healthily.

Bethany Robinson's pretty face can be seen smiling out from the side of millions of Tropicana juice cartons promoting the work of Cancer Research UK.

And she is certainly the right person to inspire others. The five-year-old, from Moredon, has fought neuroblastoma, an extremely rare form of cancer, since she was just 12 weeks old.

Her parents Tracy, 35, and Steve, 41, took her to the former Princess Margaret Hospital after she started suffering convulsions.

She was referred to the John Radcliffe Hospital, where surgeons removed a three-inch tumour from her abdomen.

Bethany is due to have her final scan next month. But, by her happy disposition, it's hard to tell she has been through so much.

She is well aware of why she is on the cartons. She simply says: "It's because I had cancer."

Bethany, who attends Moredon Junior School, added: "I like colouring and playing in the sand."

Tracy said: "I'm sure I will miss the scans and the peace of mind each one brings but the doctors are confident we have seen the last of her illness.

"We still think back to the time she was diagnosed. It's something that will never go away, the shock and the disbelief.

"But as each year goes by, and Bethany continues to be so fit and healthy, we think of it less and less.

"It was such a surprise to see her on the cartons. I feel very proud of her."

Bethany also acts as her parents' ears as both are deaf, since contracting measles in childhood.

She is also a loving big sister to Aimee, who will be three in June.

In 2002 Bethany won the Good Citizen Awards' young person category and has been an ambassador for the Cancer Research Campaign in Swindon.

Tropicana and Cancer Research UK teamed up to promote this year's All Day Breakfast to encourage people to enjoy a nutritious breakfast.

Research shows eating healthily can help reduce the risk of cancer.

According to the charity, we should all eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day and a medium sized glass of Tropicana Pure Premium can count as one portion.
