DEVIZES Under 14 returned from a successful Easter tour to France their first overseas trip.

The group were in Mezin in the Toulouse region of the country, where they took part in an international tournament as well as taking on local teams.

Opening up in against the host town, Devizes were surprised by an early try.

But they ran out comfortable 27-12 winners with tries by Nick Farrant, Niko Brown, James Dazeley, Tim Brain and Josh Lyon.

They also won the second clash against Nerac.

Tries were scored by Aran Rowles with two for Lyon in a 19-5 triumph.

The next day brought an evening fixture against Marmande, whose team was made up of players from all clubs in the surrounding area. Devizes lost 41-0.

The final game was against Gabarret, a school specialising in rugby.

Devizes' game was badly affected by the loss of prop Nick Farrant, who was carried from the field with an injury after only five minutes.

With no replacements available, a hard fixture became even more difficult and it showed great character for the team to achieve a 14-14 draw after tries by James Dazeley and Niko Brown.
