BANNERS showing scenes from Marlborough's history that will greet Prince Charles when he visits the town in June, were unveiled this week.
Four of the seven banners that will hang from poles in the centre of the High Street for the town's 800th anniversary celebrations have been completed by David Sherratt, a member of the committee planning the big event in June.
He has been working on the banners at his Oxford Street home for the last seven weeks and has three more to complete.
Mr Sherratt, a retired teacher, has also produced large wall hangings that will go on the front of the town hall and a mural on the main staircase depicting scenes from the town's history.
The four banners already produced commemorate the Battle of Marlborough in 1642; the town's Great Fire of 1653; the granting of the Royal Charters by King John in 1204 and the building of the Marlborough Castle in 1100.
Prince Charles will walk along the High Street to the town hall.
Two hundred people are being invited to a reception at the town hall, where Prince Charles will unveil a stone commemorating the town's celebrations.
