MORE than 1,000 women have signed up to take part in this year's Race For Life.
Organisers at Cancer Research UK are delighted at the enthusiastic response but they still need more runners.
Karina Morgan, who is organising the event at Lydiard Park on June 1, said: "We are pleased with the response so far. But we still need more if we are to hit our target of 2,750 runners.
"I would urge women to badger their workmates, sisters and mothers into taking part. It's a fantastic day and also a poignant one because many women taking part have had a cancer experience.
"It is also our fifth anniversary in Swindon, so we want an extra special day."
Proceeds from the event will help prevent and treat cancer.
Last year, 2115 women took part, raising £118,000. This year's target is £192, 500.
The charity's patron is TV presenter Sarah Green, who said: "More than a million women have taken part in Race For Life since it first started ten years ago, and every person has made a real difference to Cancer Research UK's work."
