THE future of a planned wind farm outside Watchfield, near Swindon, will be decided on Monday.
Members of the Vale of White Horse District Council will gather at the Guildhall in Abingdon to discuss various matters, including the turbine colour of the five 850kw wind turbines which already have planning permission at Westmill Farm.
They will also consider whether to upgrade the planning permission and allow the turbines to be swapped for larger models with greater electricity-generating capacity.
The farm is the project of Energy 4 All, a co-operative of 1,300 people which owns two wind farms in Cumbria.
The organisation intends to form a new co-operative and invite local people to buy shares in the Westmill Farm project.
Groups including Friends Of The Earth, the RSPB, the Environment Agency and Greenpeace have given their blessing to the project, which they see as an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional methods of producing electricity, such as gas turbines, which contribute to pollution.
