I was upset to read the letter the week before last (April 1) and
so angry that I didn't reply last
week.
The letter began by referring to
underage drinking in Devizes and within a few lines seemed to have
developed into a personal attack on the drinking habits of our councillors.
The letter did not state whether they referred to our town councillors,Kennet or County.
Either way if a councillor has a drink in the privacy of their own home or garden, it does not mean they are 'incapable of carrying out their duties'.
As the wife of a town councillor I have attended many enjoyable events and have yet to see anyone unable to carry out any specific duty.
Perhaps this person ought to get out of their armchair and give some thought to the amount of support they give their town, rather than sitting and criticising those who attend many weekly meetings, to try and make our town a better place to live in.
Let's support, not criticise.
Mrs Jones
Devizes
