I write further to the letter today (April 8) from J. Buckley of

Marlborough about the 'improved' postal deliveries we now enjoy following the abolition of the daily second delivery.

Firstly, what second delivery ?

It's many years since I last saw post being delivered later in the day after the morning delivery so I remain to be convinced about any savings from its abolition now.

However, as J. Buckley says, we were assured that the postal deliveries would be an improvement without the burden of the second delivery.

Forgive me, I remain sceptical and if other people have the same

experience that I do of the new post delivery arrangements, then the

Post Ofice's claims are open to question.

To illustrate my point, before the new and 'improved' arrangements, my post always arrived between 7.15 and 7.30am.

In this last 10 days or so, the following times have been recorded by me when the post actually arrived: 10.30am; after 2.30pm; 9am; 8.15am; 2pm; 8.45am; 7.55am; after 10.30am; between 10.30 and noon

OK, the post was delivered, but surely it cannot be claimed by the postal authorities that such a wide timescale is a satisfactory and

efficient service.

What do others think?
