REGARDING last week's front page on the new St John's School in

Marlborough with the possible impact of building 150 to 250 new homes, the new plan for the school is not in keeping with the historical aspect of Marlborough.

The infrastructure is not available to bring in more people, there are

inadequate medical facilities, the roads are packed to capacity and there is an inadequate number of foot patrol police officers.

This probably applies equally to Devizes where property development has escalated. However, will the proposed development of houses in Marlborough be for local first time buyers? When will they be given a chance?

On the subject of 'Chance to voice opinion on Europe' on page 9 the ordinary working people or those not of the professional classes in Holland, Germany, Austria, Greece and the Irish Republic, regret the day the Euro currency was introduced to their countries, as they are worse off, starting with rounding up of the Euro at introduction and out of control price increases ever since. European relationships must work for Britain, not just the other way around.

Finally, we must support MP James Gray's action to fight the government proposal to reintroduce the export of horses which has been banned for 80 years.

The continental methods of slaughter, even today, leave a lot to be desired.
