CHARLIE Griffin's dream move to Swindon Town ended in disappointment and the Chippenham Town striker is now desperate to show them what they have been missing.
The Hardenhuish golden boy will get his chance in Monday night's Wiltshire Premier Shield final and he admits a few goals against his former team-mates would ease the memories of Monday's 6-1 loss to Dorchester.
Griffin's prolific goalscoring brought him to the attention of Jimmy Quinn and the then Swindon Town manager quickly snapped him up for £10,000 in 1999.
After two years, his time at the County Ground turned sour and he moved to Woking for £25,000 before returning to Wiltshire in September 2002.
The 24-year-old scored 17 goals for the Bluebirds last season and would love to add to the 17 he has already notched this season on Monday.
He said: "It is always that extra bit special when you play against your old team-mates and it will be no different for me.
"We don't know what sort of team they will put out and because they are in the promotion race I am sure it will be a mixture of reserves and youngsters.
"Whatever team they have it would be great to score and perhaps remind them what I am capable of. I am really looking forward to it."
Chippenham reached the final at Hardenhuish with a comprehensive victory over Supermarine in the semi final and Griffin insists the club are taking the final seriously.
He said: "You want to win every competition you have entered. Whether it is the FA cup, the league or the Premier shield you still try your hardest.
"I am still good friends with a lot of them down at Swindon and I expect Andy King will be there Monday night, so it will be good to catch up with him again.
"I am sure they will want it as much as we do and it will be a good break from the league. If I do manage to score a few it will definitely make the Dorchester defeat easier to take."
