A NEW tour company in Melksham is offering the chance not just to have a great time in far flung places but also to get involved in local charity projects.

InterAction Tours is the brainchild of Maxine Wheller, 27, and offers adventure tours in Cambodia and Vietnam.

Ms Wheller said: "More volunteers are needed to help out in many programmes around the world, and charities are desperate for donations.

"Knowing that there are many people out there who would love to help, but are restricted by funds and annual leave entitlements, I set myself the challenge of creating InterAction Tours."

Ms Wheller spent three years planning and researching the venture and has worked as an adventure tour leader in the Middle East and Asia.

In Vietnam the company will be planting trees and in Cambodia it will be buying wheelchairs for disabled children. The company will also donate more money towards projects, including new homes for families who lost theirs during the war.

It will provide money to pay for disabled children to receive an education and to be fitted with artificial limbs and braces.

Those taking part will be able to join charity-run volunteer programmes during their holiday while also having plenty of free time to do what they wish and the option of taking part in guided tours of major local attractions.
