A ROW that has delayed the building of more affordable housing in Trowbridge and Westbury has finally been resolved.
West Wiltshire District Council and West Wiltshire Housing Society have buried the hatchet in the long-running argument over money.
Cllr Michael Mounde said: "We have been working with the society for many months now to resolve this dispute, and I am delighted that we have been able to do so in a thoroughly amicable and positive way, without the need for costly outside arbitration."
Following negotiations, the society has paid the council £1,286,000 to cover costs incurred when it was set up in 1996 and the council in return has released £559,000 in repair payments it had been withholding.
The resolution of the argument will allow the development of nearly 70 affordable homes in Trowbridge and Westbury to go ahead.
The money will fund three new affordable housing schemes 12 at the St John's Hospital site in Trowbridge and 57 at two Locations at Leigh Park in Westbury.
