TROWBRIDGE Town boss Neil Kirkpatrick is demanding to be awarded the three points after Shrewton United Reserves called off their match on Thursday three hours before kick-off.

With a number of games in hand over their rivals Trowbridge could have done without this postponement as they continue their push for the title.

Shrewton's reason for calling it off was they were unable to get a team together but Trowbridge have already written to the Wiltshire League asking for the points.

Kirkpatrick said: "I really hope the league decide we should get the points. It states in the rules they can either fine teams, or deduct points. A lot of us had to book time off work for the match and then they inform us they can't play at 3.15pm, just three hours before kick off.

"It is not good enough. If they do rearrange the fixture then it would be unfair because all the players they were meant to be missing would be available again."

l TEENAGE striker Matt Minnis took a starring role on Saturday as Trowbridge cruised to a 4-0 victory at home to Chiseldon Castrol.

The youngster was given a rare start due to the unavailability of Dave Mitchell and Jack Heard and he took full advantage by creating two of their four goals. On 48 minutes Waleed Bakali converted Gavin Eyre's corner and from then on the hosts dominated.

The second goal came on 69 minutes when Minnis picked the ball up on the half way line before playing a great pass to Dave Percival on the left wing.

Percival cut inside and scored at the second attempt after his first shot was well saved.

Minnis again provided the pass to enable Percival to score his second and his side's third in the 87th minute, before Adam Shackell made it 4-0 minutes later.

Trowbridge were due to play at Corsham Town reserves last night before travelling to title rivals AFC Stratton tomorrow.

Gordon Saunderson, Mike Little and Jack Heard are all unavailable for the match but Kirkpatrick insists all the pressure is on their opponents.

He said: "They have to beat us, it is as simple as that for them.

"They have no choice but to have a go, whereas we can still afford a couple of slip-ups.

"We are almost guaranteed a runners up slot already but we want to win the league and know we are capable of it.

"We just have to keep plodding along. I have worked out we can still lose two games and draw one and still win the league."
