BRADFORD Town secured a place in the Corsham Print Senior Cup final on Saturday with a 2-1 win at home to Biddestone Town.
First half strikes from Peter Martin and Charlie Powell were enough for victory despite a spirited second half performance by the visitors.
Andy Wicks pulled a goal back late in the second half but Biddestone were unable to convert their dominance into any further chances.
Bradford manager Mark Hodkinson felt both teams were better than they showed on the day, but was just relieved to have progressed to the final.
He said: "It was not the best performance on our behalf. If I am honest I don't think either team played to their full potential.
"But the most important thing was the result and we got that. Biddestone are a much better team than they showed on Saturday and we know that.
"In the first half we played quite well and deserved to be 2-0 up.
"They didn't show anything. I think our pace told as we put them on the back foot. In the second half they were a far better team and really came at us.
"We expected that and defended well."
Bradford will meet either Trowbridge Town or Purton Reserves on May 1 in the final at Corsham Town's ground.
"It is a good break from the league," said Hodkinson. "The good thing is it should be our last game of the season so we don't need to worry about any other league games after that.
"But there is no point in winning the semi-final if you go on to lose the final. The job is nowhere near done yet."
Biddestone's search for their first piece of silverware in senior football will have to continue for another season and manager Gary Skidmore could not hide his disappointment.
He said: "It was always going to be tight but we were just not at the races in the first half.
"The most disappointing thing was we didn't create any chances. We had that problem earlier in the season but I thought we had solved it.
"We can't afford to play for only half a game against teams the quality of Bradford because there is just no way back.
"We have to improve our finishing power or else our target of third place in the league just won't happen."
Biddestone entertain Devizes Town Reserves tomorrow.
