CALNE Town manager Kelvin Highmore has launched an attack on Glenn Armstrong after the striker pulled out of Monday's match at Corsham.

Armstrong, who was the club's leading scorer last campaign, claims he was injured but Highmore has rubbished this.

The Calne boss said: "He was not injured. I am disagreeing with what he says but I am not elaborating on it any more.

"He has let the club down, he has let me down, he has let the players down and most of all he has let himself down.

"I don't mind about me because managers expect it but you don't do that to your mates.

"I very much doubt whether we will sort it but the ball is now in his court. He has had enough time to stew on it and it is up to him what happens from here. I will not lose any sleep over it."

Armstrong, 21, has endured a wretched season this campaign as injury and illness has forced him to miss lengthy periods but he insists it was injury that forced him to pull out of Monday's match.

He said: "I picked up a calf injury playing the day before and I was not going to play if was not 100 percent fit.

"I have no problem with Kelvin but if he has a problem with me then there is nothing I can do about it.

"Maybe I did leave it a bit late to pull out and maybe I shouldn't have played on the Sunday but I was definitely injured."
