CORSHAM Town stalwart Craig Chaplin insists his side will not be unsettled by the uncertainty surrounding the restructuring of the non-league pyramid.

It is still unknown how many teams will be promoted at the end of the season as the effects of bringing in a new Conference League filter down the system.

But the Corsham goalkeeper has his sights firmly set on the last four league games of the campaign and only after they have been completed will he allow himself to think about next season.

A seven-match winning run has seen Corsham lift themselves to fifth position in First Division.

Three of their last four games are against sides in the top seven, starting with tonight's match against Larkhall Athletic.

Chaplin is targeting a fourth place finish and he believes tonight's match could have a huge bearing on the final table.

He said: "Larkhall is obviously a big game because if we win I think that will guarantee us a place in the top six and rule them out of the running.

"We have games against Bristol Manor Farm and Willand and we have to look to get points from all of them.

"No-one knows what is going on with regards the new structure but all we can do is play our own game and not worry about it.

"We don't want to finish the season in sixth and then find out the top five go up because then we will be stuck in a league that has been devalued by the loss of so many teams.

"We need to stay in with a shout of promotion. I am 33 now and want to play higher league football with Corsham."

Chaplin has been at the Southbank for 11 years and he believes the current squad is one of the best he has been involved with.

He said: "The quality of players at the club at the moment is better than ever.

"I don't want to devalue some of the players and managers I have worked under before, because there have been some really good ones, but everything is now in place to move forward.

"We have players with a lot of Western League experience and we also have some great youngsters so I believe we belong in the Premier Division.

"We have already played and beaten some higher league teams this season so I think we would do okay if we got promoted."

Tonight's match has been switched from Larkhall to Bath City's Twerton Park ground.
