DOCTORS who cancelled out-of-hours cover at Warminster Community Hospital have been criticised for running an extra clinic at Center Parcs.
Two GPs from The Avenue Surgery are holding a clinic at the resort to treat holidaymakers.
The community hospital was closed to inpatients and casualty was shut down after a dispute between the GPs and West Wiltshire Primary Care Trust.
The hospital will reopen on April 26 after Adcroft Surgery in Trowbridge agreed to provide cover.
Cllr Chris March said: "I would have thought the priority for the doctors is to provide out-of-hours cover for the hospital.
"There is this gap between what the PCT is offering and what the surgery wants to be paid. It appears it is all about money."
The clinic operates in the day and is covered by doctors from The Avenue on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Many patients at the clinic are foreigners not entitled to NHS care.
Peter Williams, business manager at The Avenue, said: "These are day-time clinics, not affected by our out-of-hours cover. We are happy to support the hospital during the day. The problem is the out-of-hours contract with the PCT.
"The clinic has been going on for years. The nurses run a triage system letting us know which patients need what care. If we are needed we go to the resort so peoples' holidays are not affected, or patients are sent to us in an emergency."
